As a long time practitioner of the Japanese martial art of Aikido, George Leonard is familiar with the life force energy that flows through everything it seems. Unfortunately, the nearest term in the West, we need an approach to the nature of this life is the word “energy”. Leonard thinks that this is a poor translation at best. Called ki in Japan, this “energy” is known by many names in many cultures and historical periods: chi in China, prana in India, pneuma in ancient Greece, where in Hawaii, elan vital vitalistic philosophy, Star Wars Force.
Leonard joked that when he saw the movie Star Wars that saw a line uttered by Obi One Kenobi that seems to be directly copied from the book itself, which is called Ultimate, “is the effect that some of the strength that all living things through and go to the end of the universe.” When he met with George Lucas, he learned that Luke was influenced by his writings.
For Leonard, Aikido is a way to live in harmony with the spirit of the universe. Importantly, he noted that at one point in scientific paradigm must go “evidence” and “faith” and leave instead must engage in direct experience with ki aikido. As Leonard himself said: “I do not believe in ki, I just do it.” Because the West is so fascinated with violence and force, has a smooth landscape ki.
Leonard said some funny experiences with nature ki, which he faced men much bigger and stronger than him. In a demonstration for the participants in the conference, Leonard showed repulsive force ki by Steve Dinan. When energy face Steve Leonard, he immediately felt the urge to give up, because the power is so strong ki Leonard. After the demonstration, Leonard stressed that ki can be improved by visualization and images, and it is a qualitatively different experience than muscle.
So how can we explain the phenomenon of ki? Leonard offers a number of ideas are being explored. Some researchers are investigating the electromagnetic field of the human body, while the other to the electro-static field. Leonard called January Wallenczak studies at Stanford, which has shown that the effects occur below the thermal barrier (KT), where, according to classical physics, this should not happen. Other, more radical theories and studies also appear as string theory and M-theory in physics.
Leonard also called zero point energy theory Putoff Harold. A growing orientation is that we went swimming in the energy that is all around us. Leonard thinks we need to examine how human intentionality can serve as a bridge to energy everywhere to open. Just like Marilyn Schlitz, Leonard believes that human intentionality is a vague power, but it is very important that we are only beginning to understand. Leonard was very curious about how the intentionality associated with the subtle energy properties, such as ki.
After a brief presentation, Leonard has some important points to emphasize in conclusion. First he offered that ki properties can also be included in a comprehensive theory of evolution. He said that even though gravity is the weakest of the four known physical forces, the range is endless, and overcome all in the end. Maybe ki and like gravity in this case. Leonard also said that after many years of experience in teaching people about the nature of ki, he realized that all the necessary permits to begin the seemingly remarkable ability to open.
Finally, Leonard offers important orientation for the entire conference. Because the western scientific world so determined to find a specific and proven “truth” we often miss the mystery and magic of it all. Leonard rhapsodized that we live in the universe can be weighed from the unexpected, truth beauty and mystery. The only thing that will ever hinder our search for the truth is the nature of our minds. We must always remain curious and open to new perspectives and new horizons. Leonard ends with a poem summarizing this vision:
Do not think this is all there is
More and more beautiful teachings there
The sword is unexpected
